Beware of Phishing Emails About Estonian Tax Refunds: Stay Safe! | Companio

The Estonian State Portal has issued an urgent warning regarding phishing emails that are being sent on behalf of the eesti.ee portal and the Estonian Tax and Customs Board. These fraudulent emails falsely claim to offer Estonian Tax Refunds and are designed to trick into revealing sensitive information.

What’s Happening?

Imposters are sending out emails that look official and appear to be from the Estonian Tax and Customs Board. These emails may include links or attachments that lead to fake websites asking for your personal information or business data. If you receive any unexpected emails about “eesti tax refunds” or “business tax refunds”, be extra cautious.

How to Protect Yourself from Fraudulent Tax Refunds:

  1. Check the Sender’s Email Address: Legitimate communications from the Estonian State Portal will come from @eesti.ee or @emta.ee.
  2. Don’t Click on Unverified Links: If you receive a suspicious email about Estonian Tax Refunds, avoid clicking on any links or downloading attachments.
  3. Report Phishing Attempts: If you suspect an email is fraudulent, report it directly to the Estonian Tax and Customs Board.
