Starting a Business in Estonia Changed Everything for Diginomad | Companio

This is the story of Tamires and Lawrence, a Brazilian–Belgian couple who turned frustration into opportunity. Back in 2019, they were still bringing stacks of paper to the accountant every quarter — a process that felt outdated, slow, and unnecessarily complicated. Out of that frustration came the idea to create something different. That decision gave birth to Diginomad OÜ, a company built on clarity, personal attention, and practical solutions that actually help entrepreneurs grow.

Yet their journey wasn’t only about building websites or SEO strategies. It was about finding the right place to make entrepreneurship possible. And when the search led them to Estonia, everything changed — not just for their business, but for the way they live and work as entrepreneurs.

How Did You Turn a Clear Frustration Into a Successful Digital Business?

“Before starting Diginomad OÜ, we had already run a company elsewhere in the EU, but the costs and taxes were so high that profitability was nearly impossible before even making a profit.”

Looking around in Flanders (Belgium), they also noticed a pattern: many small businesses struggled with their online presence. The offers they received were complicated, overpriced, and often came with little real support. Out of this frustration came a new idea — to build a business that would keep things simple, personal, and effective. “With Diginomad, we wanted to change that. Clear communication, personal service, and solutions that truly work.”

One of their proudest milestones is helping Sensespraktijkhuis.be, which started with just one house where psychologists, therapists, and doctors could offer their services. “Today, that project has grown into three houses with more than 150 professionals supporting people. Seeing that growth and knowing our work made a difference has been incredibly rewarding.”

Another highlight was creating the webshop for Business & Bikes, a unique cycling and networking event for Belgian entrepreneurs and CEOs. Seeing hundreds of leaders come together to ride, connect, and support a good cause showed them how digital work can spark real-world impact.

A Mission Beyond Websites: Helping Entrepreneurs Grow Online

At its core, Diginomad has a simple mission: to help SMEs and entrepreneurs grow online.

“Our work goes beyond creating websites. We provide WordPress websites, WooCommerce webshops, SEO, hosting, newsletters, and domain management. But what matters most is the way we do it — short and to the point. No middlemen, no endless waiting lines. Just one contact, clear agreements, and direct communication.”

For them, digital tools are not about flashy technology. As they put it:

“Good websites are not about technology, they’re about people. If your website helps your customers, it will automatically help your business.”

What Challenges Did You Face and What Did You Learn?

“We’ve worked with clients in Flanders, the Netherlands, Germany, and even Brazil. Each market has its own culture and expectations. It’s exciting, but also demanding. Our main focus is on the EU, but we’ve learned to adapt quickly.”

Over time, they discovered an important lesson: simplicity and speed are more valuable than perfection. “We realized that launching projects step by step, testing, and improving brings much better results than endlessly fine-tuning.”

And when asked what advice they’d give new entrepreneurs, they don’t hesitate:

“Keep things simple and personal. Don’t try to be everything for everyone. Focus on what you do best, communicate clearly, and build long-term relationships. And never underestimate the value of good support — many clients stay with us not just for the websites, but because they know they can always reach us directly.”

The Estonian Revelation: Why Diginomad Chose Estonia to Do Business

“In Belgium, taxes are relatively high, but what really made things difficult for us as a starting company was the complicated paperwork and bureaucracy around documents and subsidies, and by contrast, Estonia offered a simplified, transparent system with a flat-rate tax that feels much more honest.” It was exactly the fair and flexible solution that Diginomad was looking for.

That’s when they discovered Estonia and its e-Residency program: “Estonia offered us exactly what we needed: a flat-rate tax system, a flexible business environment, and the ability to manage everything 100% online. It fits perfectly with the way we work and live as entrepreneurs. It allowed us to focus on our clients and growth, instead of fighting bureaucracy.”

What’s Next for Diginomad?

“We’re moving more towards subscription-based services. Clients pay monthly for hosting, maintenance, and SEO, ensuring that their websites are always safe and up to date. This provides stability for them and for us. At the same time, we plan to expand our network in Spain and Belgium, while keeping the flexibility to work internationally.”

With that belief, Diginomad is not just creating websites — they are building bridges, empowering entrepreneurs, and proving that with the right environment, small businesses can thrive.
