Frequently asked questions

The e-Residency kit is only delivered in person. It requires you to identify yourself to the staff of the Pickup location. In NO case it’s given to another person, representative, etc.

The reason is that they need your fingerprints to generate your document.

The e-Residency kit is NOT sent by post.

The period to go to the official e-Residency Pickup Location is 6 months.

If you haven’t shown interest in going for your e-Residency, it will be returned to Estonia and destroyed. If you are still interested in obtaining it, you must apply again.

Unfortunately, pick-up locations are temporarily closed if you applied for an e-Residency card in Bangkok, Sao Paulo, Singapore, Pretoria, or Tokyo.

The e-Residency team has personally contacted all the affected e-residents to inform them what’s happening, and they’ll provide more information and solutions as soon as possible.

What can you do if this is your case? The quickest solution in some cases may be redirecting the cards to an alternative existing pick-up location.

The Estonian embassies will now handle the cards from the external pick-up locations for Tokyo and Singapore. The cards are currently on their way to these embassies, and you’ll be notified as soon as they arrive.

As for the cards from Bangkok, Pretoria, and Sao Paulo, they’ve made their way back to Tallinn. The e-Residency team will provide an update in the next few weeks about when and how e-residents can pick up their cards from these locations.
